Waiting 3 months to write up a post when you haven’t taken any notes is not the greatest idea.
I’ve been lucky with Thai food as I have always had a local expert to turn to for info, especially names.
However when in Vietnam, I paid scant attention to the proper terms for dishes and have since spent some time scouring various online resources to identify food stuffs.
Another day, another fancy Bangkok restaurant. We only had a brief stay in Bangkok before we headed on to Vietnam, and we had to cram as much into it as possible.
H’s dad had managed to book us in for lunch at one of the most celebrated restaurants in the city – Bo.lan.
As H and I were no longer penny-strapped travellers, I was really keen to splash out a bit on our recent Thailand trip.
This led to a great deal of research followed by some valiant booking efforts by H’s dad. The result? Celebrating New Year’s Eve at Issaya Siamese Club.
I love returning back to Ayrshire and finding out what new places have opened up. Before every visit I always do a little research – checking out popular places on TripAdvisor, reading up on new openings and so on.
I learned of La Petite Patisserie this way. It’s a recently opened cake shop tucked down Cow Wynd off Alloway Street in Ayr (look out for a board on the pavement guiding you into a courtyard).
Doing a little background reading I found out about the help they had received from Reddit users to enhance the business. I’m hugely fond of independent “dream-realising” outlets, plus the photos on their site looked delicious so I felt obliged to drag H and T down there for some mid-morning cake.
